History
Medora was founded in 1837 by William Medora, a settler from North Carolina. The town was originally called Medora Station, and was a stop on the Madison and Indianapolis Railroad. The town was officially incorporated in 1871.
In the late 19th century, Medora was a thriving agricultural community. The town had a flour mill, a sawmill, a blacksmith shop, a general store, and a post office. The town also had a school, a church, and a hotel.
Geography
Medora is located at 38°45'25" North, 85°45'25" West (38.756944, -85.756944). The town is situated in the rolling hills of southern Indiana, about 25 miles south of Indianapolis.
The town is located in Jackson County, which is part of the Seymour, Indiana Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town is bordered by the towns of Brownstown to the north, Seymour to the east, and Crothersville to the south.
Economy
Medora's economy is largely based on agriculture. The town is home to several farms, which produce corn, soybeans, wheat, and hay. The town also has a few small businesses, including a gas station, a convenience store, and a restaurant.

As of the 2010 census, there were 545 people, 212 households, and 149 families living in the town. The population density was 545 people per square mile (210/km2).
