Grandview Summary

Geography

Grandview is a small town located in the southwestern corner of Indiana, in the United States. It is situated in the Wabash Valley, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The town is located in the Wabash River Valley, which is a major tributary of the Ohio River. The town is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland, and is located near the Indiana-Illinois border. The town is located approximately 30 miles south of Terre Haute, Indiana, and approximately 50 miles north of Evansville, Indiana.

History

Grandview was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The town was originally known as Grandview Station, and was a stop on the Wabash and Erie Canal. The canal was a major transportation route for goods and people in the mid-1800s. The town was officially incorporated in 1867, and the name was changed to Grandview.
The town grew slowly over the years, and by the early 1900s, it had become a thriving agricultural community. The town was home to several small businesses, including a flour mill, a sawmill, and a general store. The town also had a post office, a bank, and a school.
