Boonville, Indiana is a small city located in Warrick County, Indiana, United States. It is situated on the Ohio River, about 25 miles east of Evansville. The population of Boonville was 6,246 at the 2010 census.
History
Boonville was founded in 1818 by William Boon, a Revolutionary War veteran. The town was named after him and was incorporated in 1851. Boonville was a major port on the Ohio River and was a major stop on the Underground Railroad. During the Civil War, Boonville was a major supply center for the Union Army.

Boonville is located at 38°5′17″N 87°25′17″W (38.087900, -87.421400). According to the 2010 census, Boonville has a total area of 4.3 square miles (11.2 km2), of which 4.2 square miles (10.9 km2) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.3 km2) is water.
Economy
Boonville’s economy is largely based on manufacturing and agriculture. The city is home to several manufacturing plants, including a steel mill, a paper mill, and a plastics plant. The city also has a large agricultural sector, with corn, soybeans, and wheat being the main crops.
Demographics
As of the 2010 census, there were 6,246 people, 2,541 households, and 1,637 families residing in Boonville. The population density was 1,478.2 people per square mile (571.3/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 95.2% White, 1.2% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.7% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.7% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.2% of the population.
