History
The area that is now Argos was first settled in the early 1830s by a group of settlers from Ohio. The town was originally known as “Argosville” and was platted in 1836. The name was changed to Argos in 1837. The town was incorporated in 1871.
The town was originally a farming community, but in the late 19th century, it became a center for the production of brick and tile. The brick and tile industry was a major employer in the town until the mid-20th century.

Argos is located at 41°14′N 86°17′W (41.23, -86.28). According to the 2010 census, the town has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.2 km2), all land.

The economy of Argos is largely based on agriculture and manufacturing. The town is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a restaurant, and a bank. The town also has a post office and a library.

There were 745 households, out of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.3% were non-families. 30.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.04.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 25.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 92.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.3 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $37,500, and the median income for a family was $45,000. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $22,500 for females.
