Parrish is a small town located in Walker County, Alabama. It is situated on the banks of the Black Warrior River, about 20 miles northwest of Birmingham. The racial makeup of the town was 79.2% White, 17.7% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 1.2% from other races, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.3% of the population.
There were 745 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.2% were married couples living together, 16.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.7% were non-families. 30.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.04.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 25.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.7% who were 65 years of age or older.
