Notasulga is a town located in Macon County, Alabama, United States. It is situated along the banks of the Tallapoosa River, approximately 20 miles east of Auburn. The population was 1,249 at the 2010 census.
History
Notasulga was founded in 1832 by the Creek Indians, who named it Notasulga, meaning "hickory nut". The town was incorporated in 1887 and was the first town in Macon County. Notasulga was the site of a major battle during the Creek War of 1836.

Notasulga is located at 32°38'25" North, 85°45'45" West (32.640278, -85.7625). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all land.

Notasulga is a small rural town with a population of 1,249. The town is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, a pharmacy, and a few restaurants. The town is also home to a number of churches, including the Notasulga United Methodist Church, the Notasulga Baptist Church, and the Notasulga Church of Christ.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,249 people, 486 households, and 339 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,039.2 people per square mile (400.7/km2). There were 535 housing units at an average density of 441.3 per square mile (170.2/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 68.90% White, 29.90% Black or African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.24% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 0.48% from other races, and 0.32% from two or more races. 1.12% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 486 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.7% were married couples living together, 17.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.7% were non-families. 25.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.06.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 27.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 87.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.2 males.
