Morris Summary

Morris is a small town located in Jefferson County, Alabama. It is situated on the banks of the Black Warrior River, approximately 20 miles northwest of Birmingham. The town was founded in 1883 and named after the Morris family, who were early settlers in the area. The population of Morris was 1,845 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Morris is located at 33°37'45" North, 87°14'45" West (33.629, -87.246). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.2 square miles, all land.

Economy

The economy of Morris is largely based on agriculture and manufacturing. The town is home to several small businesses, including a feed store, a hardware store, and a grocery store. The town also has a few restaurants and a few small retail stores.
The town is also home to a number of industrial plants, including a steel mill, a paper mill, and a chemical plant. These plants provide employment for many of the town's residents.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,845 people, 745 households, and 486 families residing in the town. The population density was 837.2 people per square mile.
