Holt Summary

Holt is a small town located in the northwest corner of Alabama, in the county of Tuscaloosa. It is situated on the banks of the Black Warrior River, and is part of the Tuscaloosa Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town has a population of approximately 4,000 people, and is home to a variety of businesses, including a number of small manufacturing companies.

History

Holt was founded in 1887 by the Holt family, who had moved to the area from Georgia. The town was named after the family’s patriarch, William Holt. The town was originally a farming community, and the Holt family owned a large amount of land in the area. In the early 1900s, the town began to grow as a result of the construction of the Holt Dam, which provided electricity to the area.
In the 1920s, Holt began to experience a period of growth and development. The town was incorporated in 1925, and the Holt High School was built in 1926. The town also saw the construction of a number of businesses, including a cotton mill, a lumber mill, and a brick factory.
In the 1950s, Holt experienced a period of decline as the local economy shifted away from agriculture and manufacturing. The town’s population decreased, and many of the businesses closed. In the late 1970s, the town began to experience a period of revitalization, as new businesses opened and the population began to grow again.

Holt is located in the northwest corner of Alabama, in the county of Tuscaloosa. The town is situated on the banks of the Black Warrior River, and is part of the Tuscaloosa Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town is located approximately 20 miles north of Tuscaloosa, and is bordered by the towns of Northport and Brookwood.
