Graysville Summary

Graysville, Alabama is a small town located in the northwest corner of the state, in Jefferson County. It is situated on the banks of the Black Warrior River, and is part of the Birmingham-Hoover Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town has a population of approximately 1,500 people, and is known for its rural charm and friendly atmosphere.

History

Graysville was founded in 1872 by a group of settlers from Georgia. The town was named after the local Graysville Post Office, which was established in 1871. The town was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were cotton, corn, and tobacco. In the late 19th century, the town began to grow and develop, and by the early 20th century, it had become a thriving commercial center.
