History
Parsons was founded in 1856 by William Parsons, a local landowner. The town was incorporated in 1891. The town was named after William Parsons, who was a prominent landowner in the area.
The town was originally a small farming community, but it grew rapidly in the late 19th century due to the arrival of the railroad. The railroad allowed for the transportation of coal and timber, which were the main industries in the area.
