Pittsfield Summary

Pittsfield, New Hampshire is a small town located in Merrimack County, in the state of New Hampshire. It is situated in the southeastern part of the state, about 25 miles from the state capital of Concord. The town has a population of approximately 4,000 people, and is part of the larger metropolitan area of Manchester-Nashua.

History

Pittsfield was first settled in 1764 by a group of settlers from Massachusetts. The town was named after William Pitt, the Earl of Chatham, who was a prominent British statesman at the time. The town was incorporated in 1776, and was an important part of the Revolutionary War effort. During the war, Pittsfield was the site of a major battle between the British and American forces.

Geography

Pittsfield is located in the southeastern part of New Hampshire, in Merrimack County. It is situated on the Merrimack River, and is bordered by the towns of Barnstead, Chichester, Epsom, and Loudon.
