Kilmichael Summary

Kilmichael is a small town located in Montgomery County, Mississippi. It is situated in the northeastern part of the state, approximately 20 miles from the state capital of Jackson. The town has a population of approximately 1,000 people and is part of the larger metropolitan area of Tupelo.

History

Kilmichael was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from North Carolina. The town was named after the nearby Kilmichael Creek, which was named after a local Native American chief. The town was originally a farming community, but it soon developed into a small trading center. In the late 19th century, the town was home to a number of businesses, including a sawmill, a gristmill, and a cotton gin.
