Alligator Summary
Alligator, Mississippi is a small town located in the northwest corner of the state, in Bolivar County. It is situated on the banks of the Mississippi River, and is part of the Mississippi Delta region. History
Alligator was founded in 1837 by a group of settlers from Tennessee. The town was named after the nearby Alligator Creek, which was named for the large number of alligators that inhabited the area.
