Medicine Bow Summary

Medicine Bow, Wyoming is a small town located in the southeastern corner of the state. It is situated in the foothills of the Snowy Range Mountains, and is the county seat of Carbon County. The town was founded in 1868, and is named after the nearby Medicine Bow River. The town has a population of approximately 500 people, and is a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to the Medicine Bow National Forest and the Snowy Range Ski Area.

History

The area around Medicine Bow was first inhabited by the Shoshone and Arapaho tribes, who used the area for hunting and gathering. The first European settlers arrived in the area in the late 1860s, and the town of Medicine Bow was officially founded in 1868.
