Simsboro is a small town located in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana. It is situated in the northern part of the state, about 25 miles south of Ruston. The town was founded in 1883 and named after the Sims family, who were among the first settlers in the area. The population of Simsboro was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Simsboro is located at 32°31'25" North, 92°30'45" West (32.523861, -92.512599). The town is situated in the northern part of Lincoln Parish, about 25 miles south of Ruston. The terrain is mostly flat, with some rolling hills in the area. The town is located in the Piney Woods region of Louisiana, and is surrounded by forests of pine and hardwood trees.

Climate

Simsboro has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The average annual temperature is around 68°F (20°C). The average annual precipitation is around 50 inches (127 cm).

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,093 people, 431 households, and 294 families residing in Simsboro. The population density was 545.3 people per square mile (210.9/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 79.2% White, 18.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 2.2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.2% of the population.

Simsboro is a small, rural town with a limited economy. The main industries in the area are agriculture and timber. The town is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants. The town also has a few small manufacturing plants.
