Rosedale Summary

Rosedale is a small town located in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana. It is situated on the banks of the Atchafalaya River, about 25 miles south of Morgan City. The town has a population of 1,845 people, according to the 2010 census.

History

Rosedale was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Franklin. The town was named after the rose bushes that grew in the area. The first post office was established in 1884.
In the early 1900s, the town was a thriving agricultural center, with cotton, sugar cane, and rice being the main crops. The town also had a sawmill, a grist mill, and a cotton gin.
