Stanton Summary

Stanton is a city located in Orange County, California, United States. It is bordered by the cities of Cypress, Anaheim, and Garden Grove. The population of Stanton was 38,186 at the 2010 census, up from 37,403 at the 2000 census.

History

Stanton was founded in 1884 by Philip Stanton, a wealthy rancher from the Midwest. He purchased land in the area and built a large ranch house, which still stands today. The city was incorporated in 1956 and has since grown to become a vibrant community.

Geography

Stanton is located at 33°47'25" North, 117°59'17" West (33.790278, -117.988056). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.2 square miles (10.8 km2), all of it land.

Economy

Stanton is home to a variety of businesses, including retail stores, restaurants, and professional services. The city is also home to several industrial parks, which provide employment opportunities for many of the city’s residents.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 38,186 people, 11,945 households, and 8,945 families residing in the city. The population density was 9,092.3 people per square mile (3,513.2/km2). There were 12,541 housing units at an average density of 2,988.3 per square mile (1,154.7/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 44.2% White, 2.2% African American, 0.7% Native American, 25.2% Asian, 0.7% Pacific Islander, 20.2% from other races, and 6.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 44.2% of the population.
There were 11,945 households, out of which 37.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 15.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.2% were non-families. 22.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.17 and the average family size was 3.67.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 28.2% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 32.2% from 25 to 44, 19.2% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $45,945, and the median income for a family was $50,945. Males had a median income of $35,945 versus $27,945 for females. The per capita income for the city was $18,945.
