History
The area now known as Jamul was originally inhabited by the Kumeyaay people, who lived in the area for thousands of years before the arrival of Europeans. The first Europeans to settle in the area were Spanish missionaries, who established a mission in nearby San Diego in 1769. The area was later settled by ranchers, who established large cattle ranches in the area.
