Dorris Summary

Dorris is a small city located in Siskiyou County, California, United States. It is situated in the Shasta Valley, near the Oregon border. The population was 1,413 at the 2010 census, up from 1,093 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Dorris is located at 41°51'25" North, 122°17'25" West (41.857, -122.290). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all of it land.

History

Dorris was founded in 1883 by William Dorris, a rancher from Oregon. The town was named after him. The first post office was established in 1884.
