Lead Hill Summary

Hill Lead is a small town located in Boone County, Arkansas. It is situated on the banks of the White River, and is the county seat of Boone County. The town was founded in 1873 and has a population of approximately 500 people.

History

Lead Hill was founded in 1873 by a group of settlers from Missouri. The town was named after the lead ore that was found in the area. The ore was used to make bullets for the Civil War. The town was incorporated in 1876 and the first post office was established in 1877.
The town grew rapidly in the late 19th century, and by the early 20th century, it had become a major center for the timber industry. The town was also home to a number of sawmills, gristmills, and other businesses.
In the early 20th century, Lead Hill was a popular tourist destination. The town was known for its scenic beauty and its many outdoor activities, such as fishing, hunting, and camping.
