Highland, Arkansas is a small town located in Sharp County in the northeast corner of the state. It is situated on the banks of the Spring River, which is a tributary of the Black River. Geography
Highland is located at 35°45'25" North, 91°25'45" West (35.756944, -91.429167). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all land.
The town is located in the Ozark Mountains, which are part of the larger Ozark Plateau. The terrain is mostly hilly and forested, with some open fields. The highest point in the area is Pilot Knob, which is located just south of town and rises to an elevation of 1,068 feet (325 m).
Economy
Highland is a small, rural town with a limited economy. The main industries in the area are agriculture and timber. The town is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants.
The town is also home to a small manufacturing plant that produces plastic products. The plant employs about 50 people and is the largest employer in the area.

The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.02.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 25.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older.
