Highland Summary

Highland, Arkansas is a small town located in Sharp County in the northeast corner of the state. It is situated on the banks of the Spring River, which is a tributary of the Black River. The town was founded in 1883 and was named after the nearby Highland Mountains. The population of Highland was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Highland is located at 35°45'25" North, 91°25'45" West (35.756944, -91.429167). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all land.
The town is located in the Ozark Mountains, which are part of the larger Ozark Plateau. The terrain is mostly hilly and forested, with some open fields. The highest point in the area is Pilot Knob, which is located just south of town and rises to an elevation of 1,068 feet (325 m).
