Caldwell Summary

Caldwell is a small town located in the northwest corner of Arkansas in the Ozark Mountains. It is situated in the foothills of the Ozarks, and is surrounded by the White River and its tributaries. The town is located in Madison County, and is part of the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Caldwell was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Huntsville. The town was named after the Caldwell family, who were among the first settlers. The town was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were cotton, corn, and wheat. In the early 1900s, the town began to grow and develop, and by the 1920s, it had become a thriving community.
In the 1950s, the town began to experience a decline in population, as many of the residents moved away to larger cities.
