Bono Summary
Bono is a city located in Craighead County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,945 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jonesboro, Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area.
History
Bono was founded in 1881 by the St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway. The town was named after the railroad's president, William Bono. The town was incorporated in 1883.

Economy
Bono is home to several businesses, including a lumber mill, a feed mill, a grain elevator, and a cotton gin. The city also has a small retail sector, with several convenience stores, a grocery store, and a few restaurants.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,845 people, 717 households, and 517 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,420.2 people per square mile (548.7/km2). There were 790 housing units at an average density of 605.3 per square mile (233.6/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.45% White, 0.11% Black or African American, 0.43% Native American, 0.05% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.76% from other races, and 1.15% from two or more races. 1.70% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 717 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 12.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.7% were non-families. 26.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.06.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 27.2% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.2 males.
