Bassett, Arkansas is a small town located in the Ozark Mountains of northern Arkansas. It is situated in the foothills of the Ozarks, about 20 miles south of the Arkansas-Missouri border. The town was founded in 1883 and is the county seat of Boone County. The population of Bassett was 1,093 at the 2010 census.

Bassett is located at 36°17'25" North, 92°45'45" West (36.290278, -92.762500). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all land.

Economy

Bassett is a small rural town with a limited economy. The main industries in the area are agriculture, forestry, and tourism. The town is home to several small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants. The town also has a post office and a bank.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 1,093 people, 441 households, and 287 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,541.4 people per square mile (595.2/km2). There were 486 housing units at an average density of 686.6 per square mile (265.3/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 97.2% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.3% of the population.
There were 441 households, out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.2% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.7% were non-families. 32.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 16.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.30 and the average family size was 2.90.
