Banks is a city located in Saline County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 545 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Conway Metropolitan Statistical Area.
History
The area that is now Banks was first settled in the early 19th century. The town was named after the local Banks family, who were among the first settlers in the area. The town was officially incorporated in 1891.
Geography
Banks is located at 34°45'25" North, 92°37'17" West (34.756944, -92.621389). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all land.

The economy of Banks is largely based on agriculture. The town is home to several farms, as well as a few small businesses.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 545 people, 212 households, and 149 families residing in the city. The population density was 790.3 people per square mile (305.3/km2). There were 229 housing units at an average density of 331.3 per square mile (127.5/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.45% White, 0.37% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.37% from other races, and 1.63% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.37% of the population.
There were 212 households, out of which 33.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 11.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.2% were non-families. 28.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.14.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 28.2% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.2 males.
