Randolph Summary

Randolph, Nebraska is a small town located in Cedar County, in the northeastern corner of the state. It is situated on the banks of the Elkhorn River, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The town was founded in 1871, and has a population of approximately 1,000 people.

History

Randolph was founded in 1871 by a group of settlers from Randolph County, North Carolina. The town was named after the county in North Carolina, and was originally intended to be a farming community. The first settlers built a log cabin and a small store, and the town quickly grew. By 1875, Randolph had a population of over 200 people, and the town was incorporated in 1876.
In the late 19th century, Randolph was a thriving agricultural community, with a variety of crops being grown in the area. The town also had a number of businesses, including a bank, a hotel, a blacksmith, and a general store.
In the early 20th century, Randolph began to experience a decline in population, as many of the town’s residents moved away to larger cities. The Great Depression also had a negative impact on the town, and by 1940, the population had dropped to just over 500 people.
