Pleasant Dale Summary

Pleasant Dale is a small village located in southeastern Nebraska, in Seward County. It is situated on the banks of the Big Blue River, about 20 miles south of Lincoln. The village has a population of approximately 500 people, and is part of the Lincoln Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Pleasant Dale was founded in 1871 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The village was named after Pleasant Dale, Ohio, the hometown of the settlers. The settlers were attracted to the area by the fertile soil and the abundance of timber. The village was incorporated in 1876, and the first post office was established in 1877.
The village grew slowly, but steadily, over the years. In the early 1900s, the village was home to several businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, a hotel, and a grain elevator. The village also had a school, a church, and a library.
