Oakdale Summary

Oakdale is a small village located in the eastern part of Nebraska, in the United States. It is situated in the county of Pierce, and is part of the Norfolk Micropolitan Statistical Area. The village has a population of around 500 people, and is located in a rural area.

History

Oakdale was founded in 1871 by a group of settlers from Wisconsin. The village was named after the oak trees that grew in the area. The settlers were attracted to the area due to its fertile soil and abundant water supply. The first settlers built a log cabin and a small store, and the village quickly grew.
In 1873, the first post office was established in Oakdale. The village was incorporated in 1876, and the first school was built in 1877. The village continued to grow, and by the early 1900s, it had a population of around 500 people.

Geography

Oakdale is located in the eastern part of Nebraska, in the county of Pierce. It is situated in a rural area, and is surrounded by rolling hills and farmland. The village is located at an elevation of 1,400 feet above sea level. The nearest major city is Norfolk, which is located about 25 miles to the south.
