Loomis Summary

Loomis is a small village located in the southeastern corner of Nebraska, in the United States. It is situated in the Platte River Valley, approximately 20 miles south of the city of Lincoln. The village has a population of approximately 500 people, and is part of the Lincoln metropolitan area.

History

Loomis was founded in 1871 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Lincoln. The settlers were looking for a place to settle and farm, and chose the area due to its fertile soil and abundant water supply. The village was named after the first settler, John Loomis, who had come to the area from New York.
The village grew slowly over the years, and by the early 1900s had a population of around 200 people. The village was primarily an agricultural community, with most of the residents working in the fields or in the local businesses.
In the 1950s, the village began to experience a period of growth, as more people moved to the area. This growth was largely due to the construction of the nearby Lincoln Air Force Base, which brought many new jobs to the area. The village also experienced a period of growth in the 1970s, when the nearby town of Lincoln began to experience a population boom.
