Fullerton Summary
Fullerton is a city located in Nance County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Nance County.
History
Fullerton was founded in 1887 by the Union Pacific Railroad. It was named after the railroad's president, Charles Fullerton. The city was incorporated in 1891.
Geography
Fullerton is located at 41°45'7" North, 98°7'7" West (41.751944, -98.118694). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km2), all of it land.
Economy
Fullerton's economy is largely based on agriculture. The city is home to several grain elevators, as well as a feed mill and a fertilizer plant. The city also has a number of small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a lumber yard.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,845 people, 745 households, and 486 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,541.2 people per square mile (595.2/km2). There were 817 housing units at an average density of 676.2 per square mile (262.2/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 98.45% White, 0.11% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 0.33% from other races, and 0.89% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.60% of the population.
There were 745 households, out of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 7.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.3% were non-families. 32.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 18.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 3.00.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 24.2% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 22.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females, there were 87.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $31,250, and the median income for a family was $40,000. Males had a median income of $27,500 versus $20,000 for females.
