History

Cedar Bluffs was founded in 1856 by a group of settlers from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The town was named after the nearby Cedar Bluffs, which were formed by the Platte River. The town was originally a trading post and a stop on the Pony Express. In 1867, the Union Pacific Railroad was built through the town, and it became a major shipping point for grain and livestock.
In the late 19th century, Cedar Bluffs was a popular destination for tourists, who came to enjoy the area's natural beauty. The town was also known for its many saloons and gambling halls.

Cedar Bluffs is located at 41°14'25" North, 96°25'45" West (41.240278, -96.429167). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.6 square miles (1.6 km2), all of it land.

Cedar Bluffs is a small, rural community with a population of 545 people. The town is primarily a farming community, with many of its residents employed in the agricultural industry. The town also has a few small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants.

Demographics

As of the census of 2010, there were 545 people, 212 households, and 149 families residing in the village. The population density was 890.0 people per square mile (344.3/km2). There were 229 housing units at an average density of 376.7 per square mile (145.3/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.3% White, 0.2% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.4% from other races, and 1.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.3% of the population.
There were 212 households, out of which 33.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 9.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.7% were non-families. 25.5% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 27.2% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 13.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.2 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $41,250, and the median income for a family was $45,000. Males had a median income of $30,000 versus $21,250 for females.
