Arimo Summary

Arimo is a city located in the southeastern part of the state of Idaho in the United States. It is located in Bannock County, and is part of the Pocatello, Idaho Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city has a population of 1,845 as of the 2010 census.

History

Arimo was founded in 1883 by a group of Mormon settlers from Utah. The city was named after a Native American chief who lived in the area. The settlers built a fort and a sawmill, and the town quickly grew. By the early 1900s, Arimo had become a thriving agricultural community, with a population of over 1,000.
The city was incorporated in 1909, and the first mayor was elected in 1910. The city continued to grow throughout the 20th century, and by the 2000 census, the population had grown to 1,845.

Geography

Arimo is located in southeastern Idaho, in Bannock County. It is situated at an elevation of 4,845 feet (1,477 m) above sea level. The city is located at the intersection of U.S. Route 30 and Idaho State Highway 39.
The city is located in a semi-arid climate, with hot summers and cold winters. The average annual precipitation is 11.5 inches (292 mm).
