Arlington Summary
Arlington is a village located in the western part of Washington County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,945 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area.
History
Arlington was first settled in 1845 by a group of German immigrants. The village was originally known as "New Berlin" and was later renamed "Arlington" in 1856. The name was chosen to honor General Robert E. Lee's estate in Virginia.
The village was incorporated in 1872 and has since grown to become a thriving community. The village is home to a variety of businesses, including a cheese factory, a brewery, and a number of small shops.

The village is also home to a number of large employers, including the Arlington School District, the Washington County Sheriff's Office, and the Washington County Highway Department.
Demographics
As of the census of 2010, there were 1,945 people, 745 households, and 517 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,491.2 people per square mile (577.2/km2). There were 790 housing units at an average density of 607.7 per square mile (234.3/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.2% White, 0.3% African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.7% Asian, 0.2% from other races, and 1.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.2% of the population.
There were 745 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 9.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.2% were non-families. 25.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.14.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $50,938, and the median income for a family was $60,000. Males had a median income of $41,250 versus $30,000 for females. The per capita income for the village was $22,945. About 4.2% of families and 5.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.3% of those under age 18 and 6.2% of those age 65 or over.
