Audubon, Pennsylvania is a borough located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. It is situated approximately 20 miles northwest of Philadelphia and is part of the Norristown Area School District. The population of Audubon was 4,845 at the 2010 census.
History
Audubon was founded in 1887 by a group of Philadelphia businessmen who wanted to create a residential community for the wealthy. The name of the borough was chosen to honor the famous naturalist, John James Audubon. The borough was incorporated in 1895.
Geography
Audubon is located at 40°7′17″N 75°20′17″W (40.1214, -75.3379). According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all of it land.
Economy
Audubon is primarily a residential community, but there are several businesses located in the borough. These include a variety of restaurants, a grocery store, a pharmacy, a hardware store, a bank, and a post office.
