Taylor Mill Summary
Taylor Mill is a city located in Kenton County, Kentucky, United States. It is a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio, and is part of the Greater Cincinnati metropolitan area. The population was 6,521 at the 2010 census.
History
The area that is now Taylor Mill was first settled in the early 1800s by the Taylor family. The family built a mill on the banks of the Licking River, which gave the area its name. The mill was used to grind grain and was a major source of income for the family.
In the late 1800s, the area began to grow as more people moved to the area. The Taylor Mill post office was established in 1891. The city was officially incorporated in 1951.

Taylor Mill is located at 39°2'45" North, 84°31'45" West (39.04583, -84.52917). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.2 square miles (10.8 km2), all land.
Economy
The economy of Taylor Mill is largely based on manufacturing and retail. The city is home to several manufacturing companies, including Taylor Mill Industries, Inc., a manufacturer of industrial and commercial products. The city also has several retail stores, including a Walmart Supercenter, a Kroger grocery store, and several restaurants.
Demographics
As of the census of 2010, there were 6,521 people, 2,541 households, and 1,717 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,547.2 people per square mile (597.2/km2). There were 2,717 housing units at an average density of 645.2 per square mile (249.3/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 94.2% White, 2.2% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.9% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.7% from other races, and 1.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.2% of the population.
There were 2,541 households, out of which 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.2% were married couples living together, 12.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 27.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.12.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 25.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.2 males.
