Quinwood Summary
Quinwood is a small unincorporated community located in Greenbrier County, West Virginia. It is situated in the Appalachian Mountains, approximately 20 miles south of Lewisburg. The population of Quinwood was estimated to be around 200 people in 2020.
History
Quinwood was first settled in the late 1700s by a group of settlers from Pennsylvania. The town was named after the nearby Quinwood Creek, which was named after a Native American chief. The town was officially incorporated in 1883.
In the late 1800s, Quinwood was a thriving community with a variety of businesses, including a general store, a blacksmith shop, a sawmill, and a gristmill. The town also had a post office, a school, and a church.
