Rock County Summary

Rock County is a county located in the state of Nebraska in the Midwestern United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 5,814, making it the second-least populous county in Nebraska. The county seat is Bassett. The county was created in 1871 and named for the rocky terrain of the area.

Geography

Rock County is located in the northern part of Nebraska, bordered by Boyd County to the north, Holt County to the east, Brown County to the south, and Keya Paha County to the west. The county has a total area of 576 square miles, of which 575 square miles is land and 1.2 square miles (0.2%) is water.
