Logan County Summary

Logan County is located in the central part of Nebraska, in the Great Plains region of the United States. It is bordered by Custer County to the north, Lincoln County to the east, McPherson County to the south, and Keith County to the west. The county seat is Stapleton, and the largest city is North Platte. As of the 2010 census, the population was 2,737, making it the second-least populous county in Nebraska.

Geography

Logan County covers an area of 845 square miles, making it the fifth-largest county in Nebraska by area. The county is mostly flat, with rolling hills in the east and south. The terrain is mostly grassland, with some cropland and wooded areas. The North Platte River flows through the county, and there are several small lakes and ponds.
The county is divided into two distinct regions. The eastern part of the county is part of the Sandhills region, while the western part is part of the High Plains region. The county is part of the Central Nebraska Irrigation District, which provides irrigation water to the area.

Climate

Logan County has a semi-arid climate, with hot summers and cold winters. The average annual temperature is 52°F, and the average annual precipitation is 19 inches.

Demographics

As of the 2010 census, there were 2,737 people, 1,093 households, and 745 families living in the county. The population density was 3.2 people per square mile.
