Eastwood Summary

Eastwood is a small town located in the state of Louisiana, in the United States. It is situated in the northern part of the state, in the parish of Rapides. The town has a population of approximately 1,000 people, and is part of the Alexandria Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Eastwood was founded in 1883 by a group of settlers from the nearby town of Alexandria. The town was named after the Eastwood family, who were among the first settlers. The town was originally a farming community, and the main crops grown were cotton, corn, and sugar cane.
In the early 1900s, Eastwood began to experience a period of growth and development. The town was incorporated in 1909, and the first mayor was elected in 1910. The town was connected to the rest of the state by the Louisiana and Arkansas Railroad in 1911.
In the 1920s, Eastwood experienced a period of economic growth. The town was home to several businesses, including a sawmill, a cotton gin, and a brick factory. The town also had a bank, a post office, and a hotel.
In the 1950s, Eastwood began to experience a period of decline. The railroad was abandoned, and many of the businesses in town closed. The population of the town began to decline, and by the 1970s, the population had dropped to just over 500 people.

Geography

Eastwood is located in the northern part of the state of Louisiana, in the parish of Rapides. The town is situated on the banks of the Red River, and is surrounded by the Kisatchie National Forest. The town is located approximately 30 miles north of Alexandria, and is about 90 miles south of Shreveport.
