Geography
Mazon is located at 41°14'25"N 88°25'45"W (41.240278, -88.429167). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.7 square miles (1.8 km2), all land.
History
Mazon was founded in 1854 by a group of settlers from New York. The village was named after the Mazon Creek, which runs through the area. The creek was named after the Mazon family, who were among the first settlers in the area.
The village was incorporated in 1872 and has remained relatively unchanged since then. The village has a small-town feel, with a few businesses and a post office.

There were 431 households, out of which 33.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.3% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.7% were non-families. 27.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.09.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 26.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
