Thomas County Summary
Thomas County is located in the southwestern corner of the state of Georgia, and is part of the Georgia-Florida border region. It is bordered by Grady County to the north, Decatur County to the east, Brooks County to the south, and Jackson County, Florida to the west. The county seat is Thomasville, which is also the largest city in the county. Thomas County was created in 1825 from portions of Decatur and Irwin counties, and was named for General Jett Thomas, a hero of the War of 1812.
