St Johns Summary
St. Johns is a small town located in Apache County, Arizona. It is the county seat of Apache County and is located in the northeastern part of the state. The town is situated in the White Mountains, a mountain range in the southwestern United States. The town is located at an elevation of 5,890 feet (1,795 m) and has a population of 3,541 as of the 2010 census.
History
St. Johns was founded in 1876 by Mormon settlers from Utah. The town was named after the nearby St. Johns River, which was named by Spanish explorers in the late 1700s. The town was originally a trading post and was used as a supply center for the surrounding area.
