Lomira Summary
Lomira is a village located in Dodge County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,845 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fond du Lac Metropolitan Statistical Area.
History
The area that is now Lomira was first settled in 1845 by a group of German immigrants. The village was originally known as "Lomira Station" because of its location on the Milwaukee and Mississippi Railroad. The name was changed to Lomira in 1871. The village was incorporated in 1891.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.4 km2), all of it land.
Economy
Lomira is home to several businesses, including a cheese factory, a manufacturing plant, and a variety of small businesses. The village is also home to a branch of the Dodge County Library System.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 1,845 people, 690 households, and 486 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,420.3 people per square mile (548.7/km2). There were 717 housing units at an average density of 554.3 per square mile (214.3/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 97.90% White, 0.11% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.60% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.60% from other races, and 0.69% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.37% of the population.
There were 690 households, out of which 36.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.5% were married couples living together, 8.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.3% were non-families. 25.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.22.
In the village, the population was spread out, with 28.3% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 13.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $45,938, and the median income for a family was $51,964. Males had a median income of $35,938 versus $25,000 for females. The per capita income for the village was $18,945. About 3.2% of families and 4.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 5.2% of those under age 18 and 5.2% of those age 65 or over.
