Hartman Summary

Hartman is a city located in Johnson County, Arkansas. It is situated in the western part of the state, approximately 20 miles east of the Oklahoma border. The city has a population of 1,093 as of the 2010 census, making it the smallest incorporated city in the county.

History

Hartman was founded in 1882 by a group of settlers from Missouri. The city was named after one of the settlers, John Hartman. The city was incorporated in 1887 and was the first city in Johnson County to be incorporated.
The city was originally a farming community, but in the early 1900s, the railroad came to town and the city began to grow. The railroad brought new businesses and industries to the area, and the population began to increase.

Geography

Hartman is located in the western part of Johnson County, Arkansas. It is situated at the intersection of Arkansas Highway 45 and Arkansas Highway 164. The city is approximately 20 miles east of the Oklahoma border and is located in the Ozark Mountains.
The city has a total area of 1.2 square miles, all of which is land. The city is located at an elevation of 1,068 feet above sea level.

Economy

The economy of Hartman is largely based on agriculture. The city is home to several farms and ranches, and the surrounding area is known for its production of cattle, poultry, and other livestock.
The city also has a few small businesses, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and a few restaurants. The city is also home to a few manufacturing companies, including a furniture factory and a plastics factory.

As of the 2010 census, the population of Hartman was 1,093. The racial makeup of the city was 97.2% White, 0.7% African American, 0.3% Native American, 0.2% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.7% from other races, and 0.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.7% of the population.
